Who was Stewart, and whats she got to do with Hartwood Days?

Held in the Historic District of Hartwood, along the Civil War Trail, the Hartood Days Festival will offer Youth, Families & anyone attending (espcially Scouts) many opportunities to have fun and learn something new (or maybe something old).

This year,Rides will be open on Friday, with all of the regular main events happening on Saturday!

Starting at 9:00 a.m. and running until 5:00 p.m., you wont want your family to miss the great events, including exhibits from Fire, Law enforcement, Businesses and Organizations (Too many to list, check the website for some of the other participants). The Red Cross will beconducting a Blood Drive on site, and there will even be Vision and Cancer screenings done on site! You can Grab a bite to eat, Ride a Ride, play one of the games, listen to a group, and check out all of the different booths, demonstrations, exhibits, and vendors. The food is great, the Music groups are Free, and there will be LOTS for the kids to see and do!

Not just a "walk and look" kind of event, get involved at the interactive booths, touch, talk, do!!!

There will also be a Living History area, where you can take a walk through time! The Stewart Jones Living History Area (a historic nature conservancy property), across the street from the Historic Hartwood Presbyterian Church, will host camps covering several different era's. Some you probably wouldn't expect to see here in VA!!!!! Talk to a Roman Soldier, or ask a Medieval Knight what they eat, or see what World War I soldiers had in their camp. You'll be able to see how they lived and worked, but best of all, you'll be able to talk to the Living Historians! But be careful, you never know when a Skirmish might pop up.

BE A TRAILBLAZER!
ALSO during the event, ALL youth have the opportunity to have loads of fun while learning about outdoor activities during the Trailblazer Adventure Program, sponsored by the National Sportsmens Alliance. Have your kids bring their friends out to this FREE event, where they can shoot a Bow and Arrow, fire a BB Gun or an Air Rifle, learn about Boating, Fishing and lots more! Kids can even earn a FREE Patch if they visit all of the stations! Best of all its FREE!!

BADGES, BELTLOOPS & PINS? Oh My!
Have a Scout, or know one? During this years Hartwood Days Festival 8 SEP 2012, Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts have the opportunity to work on some very unique Belt Loops/Pins Merit badges, Brownie Try-Its, Junior Badges, and Cadette/Senior IP's at the BADGE DAY! ! ! We've tried to find some badges that most folks don't have. . . kinda off the beaten path so to speak. These are some unique badges that will be fun and a great addition to your collection! Individual scouts as well as Troops are welcome until class seats are full.
